I’m not an expert. I’m just a dad.

I run the YouTube channel Amam The Family Man, where I talk in plain words about modern parenting — phones, screens, and how to keep a family close when the world pulls everyone apart.

With six kids at home, I have learned most things the hard way. One big lesson was about phones. I watched all of us — not just the kids, me too — spend more and more time on screens. Evenings that used to be family time turned into everyone sitting in the same room, looking at different screens.

So we started trying small changes. Phone-free times: parts of the day when the phones go away, like dinner and the hour before bed. It was not easy at first. But I keep trying, and I share what happens here — the good days and the messy ones.

The other thing I’m trying is the family agreement. Instead of me handing down rules, we sit down together. The kids help suggest the rules, the rewards, and the consequences. Then everyone signs it. It is still an experiment in our home. I don’t know yet how it will turn out — but I believe kids take rules more seriously when they helped write them.

That is what The Family Ground is: the tools I wish I had years ago, built around the same small ideas — agreements the whole family writes together, weekly check-ins, and phone-free time that gives a family its evenings back.
